Outreach & Mentorship
Communicating the Hidden Curriculum
Despite growing up with great love for neuroscience, I had never met a researcher until I got to college. In my time in academia, I've seen that it's this opacity that keeps talented trainees from making the right decisions and leads to a leaky pipeline. A big part of why I'm still in it is the scientists that took the time to show me how it really works in our field. Mentorship and community-building are how I pay it forward.
Right now
Recently, I was proud to be nominated and serve as a panelist for the COSYNE conference's mentorship panel on “Impacting our communities at every training stage.” At it, I talked about leading the BU / Harvard / MIT neuroscience joint social in Boston and mentoring through Científico Latino.
